LETTERS: Doctors devalued in Ontario
September 08, 2009 | Paul Bonisteel

Re: “Ontario suddenly axes physician relocation fund” (the Medical Post, August 4)

In previous editions you have published articles about Ontario starting nurse practitioner-led clinics while not forming any more primary health groups that include physicians. You have published articles about the introduction of physician assistants.

It should be clear to all: Ontario no longer values physicians. Further, they don’t see a problem with unco-ordinated fragmentation of care into silos of varying abilities.

It would appear the Ontario government has no clear means of assessing the quality of these interventions—nor does it appear that it cares.—Dr. Paul Bonisteel, New Harbour, N.L.
